MSG (monosodium glutamate) is a dangerous brain toxic compound that is added to many of our daily foods. it is added to enhance the flavors of the foods we eat and in a sense makes us addicted to the taste so we keep wanting more. It is considered an “excitotoxin.” Excitotoxins are a group of amino acids that are the building blocks of protein and are called, aspartate, glutamate and cysteine. All these amino acids cause damage to the nervous system when the neurons become exposed to them. They become so excited and fires off impulses until they are completely exhausted and after several hours they are “excited to death.”

MSG is not the only taste enhancing addicted food product out there, as there are more under disguised names, such as, Hydrolyzed vegetable protein, which to me is the worse out there, as that has 3 known excitotoxins and in a lot of foods has MSG added to it as well. We must become aware of the foods we eat by learning to read labels very closely because as soon as the public becomes aware of them all to often a new name is used to replace the old one. And yes it is legal for the food companies to do this. Sad but true! These additives are even added to baby food! Additives like these can cause learning difficulties and not to mention brain damage in children in their later years, so parents beware!

More excitotoxins names are: Caseinate, autolyzed yeast extract, beef or chicken broth, or natural flavoring. If it is a natural flavor it should specify where this natural flavor comes from, such as from vanilla and not left blank.
